INVESTIGATIV - PRESS REVIEWS
What writers Christoph Silber and Thorsten Wettcke have accomplished in
this TATORT is nothing short of sensational. They have created a
tableau about politics, law and media that rings true not just to the
insider. The worst of evil, so they are showing us, has prevailed.
FAZ
After several disappointing Hamburg TATORTS, „Investigativ“
is finally a big winner (written by Christoph Silber and Thorsten
Wettcke)... At last, a TATORT that keeps up with what the ratings of
the series promise. More than seven millionen viewers watch every
Sunday night. But often enough, love's labor is lost and you ask
yourself why. This week, however, it would be unwise to watch anything
else than „Investigativ“ (…) Sensational! One of the
most exciting Tatort films in years.
DIE WELT
Writers Christoph Silber and Thorsten Wettcke have hit a hot-button
issue. Their screenplay is based on actual events… The explosive
script allowed director Claudia Garde to efface herself. The story is
so thick with suspense, wrong tracks and surprising turns that one has
no choice but to stay extremely focussed. And, in case anyone needs
further proof for the quality of the screenplay, this is a rare example
of a film that works perfectly with more dialogue than action.
BLICKPUNKT FILM
The film mainly owes its strength to the screenplay by writing duo
Christoph Silber and Thorsten Wettcke, who chose a very realistic and
topical background for "Investigativ".
BERLINER ZEITUNG
At last, a Hamburg TATORT with political depth. Small wonder, after all
it comes from writers Christoph Silber and Thorsten Wettcke and
director Claudia Garde, the same team that led us into a deportation
prison in "Schattenspiel". A dark little shocker from Hamburg.

AUF DER SONNENSEITE - PRESS REVIEWS
TATORT rejuvenated… Cenk Batu is the undercover cop developed by
screenwriters Thorsten Wettcke and Christoph Silber teamed up with
director Richard Huber… A triumph for German quality television.
DER SPIEGEL
The ongoing debate about German quality television might see an
unexpected turn on Sunday night… when TATORT will be reinvented.
A frontal attack on our viewing patterns.
DIE WELT
Right away in his first case „Auf der Sonnenseite“ (written
by Thorsten Wettcke und Christoph Silber) Batu demonstrates astonishing
mutability… We never know more than he does, we cut through the
thick with his eyes, and that is what makes this film so great.
FAZ
The first TATORT with Mehmet Kurtulus turns the series upside down.
Sometimes one film can revolutionize an entire genre…
Screenwriters Thorsten Wettcke and Christoph Silber created their hero
completely out of the box.
BERLINER ZEITUNG
This Batu is the coolest cop you've ever seen on Sunday night TV.
BILD
A quantum leap in every respect… The network had
a hard time finding a modern form of storytelling for its Hamburg
TATORT in recent years. The only excellent film was "Investigativ",
written by Thorsten Wettcke und Christoph Silber. The same writers are
now in charge of developing Cenk Batu and his world.
SPIEGEL ONLINE
The new TATORT is fast, dark, cool – a windfall for the
series. Up to now, rule number one at TATORT was: forget the first
episode. Too much exposition, too much ambition, too much fear of
upsetting viewers. Now the first episode of the new Hamburg TATORT
shows: forget the rules.
FOCUS
The revolution worked… There are those rare, historic moments
when you face a true new beginning. That's the kind of moment we
witnessed on Oktober 26, 2008 when the new TATORT cop Mehmet Kurtulus
appeared on screen… This is TV for the big screen.
